System overview
The Ring Screw is a screw with an integrated ring, implanted in the muscular process of the arytenoid cartilage to anchor the prosthetic laryngoplasty suture.
It is used together with the U Button, which secures the cricoid attachment. It is inserted with a dedicated screwdriver and tool, and the ring is oriented in the direction of traction.
Advantages: the suture is simply slid into the ring, with no tunnel through the muscular process; the ring orientation can be adjusted after insertion; the dedicated instrumentation holds the screw stable during placement.
Limitations: precise positioning is required (about 1 cm cranial to the caudal border, screwdriver perpendicular); the screw must not be overtightened and the ring must not be engaged in the cartilage; intraoperative endoscopy is advised to adjust suture tension.
