Accessory carpal bone Plate – Rose Plate

System overview

The Rose Plate is a 3D-printed titanium plate designed from CT data of the equine accessory carpal bone, for the repair of frontal accessory carpal bone fractures.

It is applied to the lateral (tension) side of the bone, under the ulnaris lateralis tendon, and accepts up to three 4.5 mm cortical screws and nine 4.0 mm locking screws.

Advantages: anatomical fit; screw angulation designed to maximize bone purchase and avoid accessory-ulnar joint penetration; stable fixation promoting primary bone healing while limiting callus formation and irritation of the flexor tendons in the carpal sheath; self-tapping locking screws, with drill guides that also serve as plate holders.

Limitations: requires accurate anatomical reduction under fluoroscopic or skyline radiographic control; care is needed to avoid opening the radiocarpal joint and to spare the ulnaris lateralis tendon.
